Heritage Architecture (quarterly) is the first comprehensive and professional journal covering all aspects of the research, conservation, and regeneration of historic built artefacts and the built environment in China. With an Editorial Team based in Tongji University, HA is administrated by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and sponsored by the China Science Publishing and Media Group Ltd. and Tongji University. HA was launched in 2016, published in Chinese with English abstracts and synopsis, and distributed both domestically and abroad.
HA integrates heritage architecture conservation in a broad scope of academic exploration, model project analysis, and artistic appreciation. By adopting a dialectical approach to history and from a ‘glocal’ perspective, it aims to create a cross-cultural and multidisciplinaryplatform for academic communication all over the world, and to provide a wide view of the frontiers of theory and practice on the field to the scholars at home and abroad. The purpose of the Journal is to improve the overall professional level of architectural conservation, enhance the public awareness of architectural heritage conservation, promote sustainable urban and rural development in China, and achieve an integrated usage of the cultural resources.
Professor Chang Qing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is the Editor-in-chief of the Journal, and Professor ZhengShiling, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, acts as Director of the Academic Committee. The Journal’s Academic Committee and Editorial Board incorporate many renowned Chinese and overseas experts and scholars in the field of architectural history and architectural heritage conservation. The Editorial Team is composed of academic editors from the College of Architecture and Urban Planning of Tongji University. The Journal contains four regular columns, including Special Focus, Theory and History, Heritage Illustration, and Project Analysis. The potential readers are scholars from architecture, cultural heritage studies, urban and rural planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, history, literature, art, and related disciplines; designers and managers; college teachers and students; and professionals from built environment related authorities and enterprises.
